ABOUT SHELLY
In order to help her clients develop their own set of skills to help them navigate their life paths, Shelly combines her expertise in counselling with research, skill-based techniques, and life stories. She collaborates with clients to establish goals and determine what kind of support they may require. Cooperative, friendly, relational, and non-judgmental describe Shelly’s style. She thinks that vital elements of a fruitful therapeutic relationship are mutual respect and feeling connected to the therapist, also known as positive client-therapist rapport. Shelly’s objective is to offer therapy that is culturally aware, sympathetic, and strength-based. She focuses on the needs of the individual client and blends techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness principles.
Shelly holds both a master’s degree in counselling and a bachelor’s degree in social science. She has further training in emotional literacy, parenting coaching, counselling for anxiety and depression, and mindfulness. In addition, Shelly assists those who are dealing with stress, grief and bereavement, adjustment issues, and low self-esteem. Shelly provides her clients a mental space during therapy where they can reflect, process their emotions and thoughts and decide what is most important to them.
