Out of everyone impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we in Hong Kong have much to be grateful for. Still, parents, children, and teachers in this region have probably borne the greatest impact among those who did not face life-threatening consequences from the virus. The Hong Kong Education Bureau closed schools for many months, both before the pandemic, due to social unrest, and then regularly months at a time and repeatedly after Chinese New Year 2020.
This long period marked by intervals of home learning, confinement, social distancing, and limited access to public facilities, including libraries, swimming pools, beaches, movie theaters, and restaurants has negatively impacted all age groups in Hong Kong, but probably children the most.
In this workshop, parents will learn to identify, assess, and improve methods to reduce stress and anxiety that come with raising children in the best and worst of times.
Parents will learn how to:
- balance love with discipline,
- improve communication with their children/teenagers,
- set boundaries that are respected by the children, and
- engage in self-care
This will be a highly interactive and experiential group setting where we will share our mutual struggles and frustrations in our parenting journey and learn from each other along the way.
