ABOUT DR. EASON
With more than 17 years of experience, Dr. Eason has worked in both outpatient and inpatient mental health settings since 2005. Additionally, he has worked clinically with both adolescents and adults for psychotherapy and counselling, including clients with substance abuse issues and dual or multiple diagnoses.
Dr. Eason utilizes an eclectic and collaborative approach to person-centered therapy, primarily drawing from cognitive behavioral (CBT), psychodynamic, and humanistic orientations. Humanistic psychology tradition has at its core the tenet of providing all clients with unconditional positive regard and treating them equally with dignity and respect. His goal is to provide clients with education, coping skills, and new perspectives related to substance abuse/addiction issues, anxiety, depression, stress management, mindfulness, life transitions, time management, expat adjustment, sleep issues/insomnia and other areas of self-care essential to personal growth and understanding.
Since moving to Hong Kong in 2013, Dr. Eason has lectured in psychology part-time at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). He also provides workshops and presentations in a number of specialty areas such as bullying, diversity & inclusion, and men’s health. Furthermore, he has presented his academic research output at international conferences in Hong Kong, Japan (Kobe and Yokohama), the United Kingdom (Brighton), and Czech Republic (Brno). He was first author of a book chapter titled “Collaborative Therapy and Playback Theatre: A Collaborative-Dialogic Model of Insight” (2019) and co-author of another chapter titled “The Relationships Among Simulation-Based Learning, Creativity, and the Learning Approach in Higher Education” (2021), both published by Springer.
Dr. Eason has extensive experience in working with LGBTQ+ clients, as both individuals and couples/relationships, addressing the unique difficulties this population faces in the Hong Kong context. You can learn more about Dr. Eason on his personal website.
