ABOUT DR. GREENE

I can help you if you are seeking relief from symptoms which may include anxiety, depression, and/or negative thinking. I believe people are born to flourish and realize their full potential. Many clients strongly suspect their mental state is something that can be improved through therapy, but actually seeking it out can be difficult for a number of reasons. I wholeheartedly agree that the main goal of therapy is to identify obstacles a person may have towards flourishing and then finding ways to eliminate those obstacles (which often appear in the form of false beliefs, or fears stemming from family of origin and/or life experiences)

My training, both practical and theoretical, takes into account your thoughts, memories, ideas, goals, identity, and fears (your conscious life, what you are aware of). I pair that with helping you identify your ‘blind spots’, negative patterns (of thoughts and behaviors), denied aspects of self (your unconscious life, aspects of self you are completely or only partially unaware of).

I invite you take a step in the direction of finding out more about yourself and exploring potential you may have been unaware of!

With a solid grounding in psychodynamic theory and an affinity for the humanities, I hope to bring a breadth and depth of multiculturalism attuned to individuals and couples seeking to raise self-awareness and resolve symptoms. I apply Jungian, post-Jungian (Archetypal), CBT, humanistic and positive psychological approaches in an integrationist manner so as to equip clients with tools and perspectives they can use to flourish. Fluent in English and Portuguese, and conversant in French and Italian, I have lived, taught, and practiced psychotherapy in Hong Kong since 2002.

I have taught a range of subjects at the university level in Hong Kong and in the United States since 2000 including the Psychology of Consciousness, Analytical Psychology, Positive Psychology, Abnormal Psychology and how to use mythology and psychology to better understand archetypes present in our personal narratives and the stories that populate the media and arts around us. My first book, Adventure in Archetype: Depth Psychology and the Humanities, was published in 2011. I have lectured and conducted workshops in the USA, Singapore, Brazil, and at numerous professional conferences in Hong Kong.

I was an adjunct faculty member in the Clinical Doctor of Psychology program, Alliant International/City University of Hong Kong, and an Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Shue Yan University in the Department of Counselling and Psychology where I was the founding Program Director of the university’s Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, (which later was renamed the Master of Social Sciences in Psychology). While at that university, I was the OECD Project Coordinator and Senior Researcher at the Economic and Wellbeing Project.
