ABOUT DR. YOUNG
Dr. Young is a Counselling Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience working therapeutically in mental health settings. She provides therapy to adolescents and adults across the lifespan. She is trained in cognitive-behavioural, humanistic and psychodynamic models which she uses to tailor a psychologically-informed understanding of client presenting issues and develop a bespoke treatment plan for each person, according to the changes they wish to make. This is developed through a shared understanding of a client’s presenting difficulties arrived at through exploration and reflection. Her overall approach is pragmatic and integrative, and informed by an over-arching holistic approach to mental and physical well-being.
Dr. Young has worked extensively with people with mild to moderate problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, stress, social phobia, perfectionism, health worries, anger management, sleep problems, and relationship difficulties). Her areas of special interest include: men’s health; workplace adjustment, stress and performance; and coping with major life transitions. She is also a Level 2 BPS approved supervisor and enjoys providing this developmental role to counsellors and trainees. As a long-term expatriate and former senior corporate executive living and working in Shanghai and Hong Kong since 1996, Dr. Young is well-acquainted with cross-cultural adjustments and challenges from clients of various nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
